Help protect access to speech
pathology under the NDIS

  1. Contact your local federal MP.
  2. Share case studies that demonstrate the impact on participants' access to care.

This is a critical time to make sure the voices of speech pathologists are heard.

The NDIA's latest pricing decisions risk the loss of access to vital speech pathology services.

Price Limits for speech pathology have been frozen for 6 years, and a 50% cut to the provider travel rate will make it even harder for people with disability to access care - especially in rural and regional areas, or in schools and homes.

We are working hard to advocate on behalf of members for the current pricing decisions to be scrapped, and for genuine consultation with participants and the sector moving forward.

We are already hearing from members about the impacts of funding constraints, including the reduced availability of mobile services, growing waitlists, and workforce burnout.

We are advocating for:

  1. The 50% cut to the provider travel rate to be scrapped.
  2. An immediate uplift in speech pathology pricing to address the 6-year indexation freeze and rising service delivery costs.
  3. Ongoing indexation to reflect inflation and ensure long-term service viability.
  4. The transfer of pricing decisions to an independent body, such as the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority.
  5. Genuine and transparent consultation with allied health professionals and people with disability.
